About
Tania is a New Zealand author who writes for both adults and children. Her work in research and education has always involved writing, but it's through creative writing she finds the joy of story-telling.
Tania has recently completed her debut adult novel - a simmering coming-of-age tale, a story of love, loss and adventure, set against a backdrop of sugar towers, treacle and weed-covered lakes. Here's what a pre-view reader says:
"This is a compelling read and is astonishing for a debut novel. The descriptive passages totally capture the mysterious sugar factory that looms over the Waitematā Harbour, and an era when children could roam free - and sometimes dangerously... You’ll be carried along seamlessly to the riveting denouement."
- Jacquetta Bell QSM, founder and former director of Nelson Readers and Writers Festival.

Tania re-discovered the magic of picture books through reading to her two boys when they were small. She now writes and collects picture books that capture the wonder in the small and the everyday. She loves the unique interplay of word and image, and the power of children's books to speak to all ages.
She also writes short stories and has been a finalist in a number of national and international short story competitions.
Tania finds memory, place, light and texture rich sources for feeding the imagination. She grew up in Auckland-Tāmaki Makaurau, a sprawling bustle of cars and motorways, but a haven of wild places too, where she was free to roam over volcanic hollows and Pohutukawa draped beaches, dog in tow. It is out of such ramblings her writing grows. She now lives in Nelson-Whakatū where rolling hills and river valleys meet the ocean.
